Slippy

Terms of service

Last updated 27 Oct 2026

In short

Slippy is a free, community-powered price guide. You share receipts, and everyone gets to see what groceries cost and where.

  • Only share real receipts from your own shopping.
  • Prices you share are published anonymously, and you allow us to use them, including commercially in anonymous price reports. That is how Slippy stays free.
  • Prices are what shoppers paid on a given day. Shelf prices may have changed, so always check in store.
  • Don't misuse Slippy: no fake receipts, vote manipulation, scraping or attacks.

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Slippy Inc (“Slippy”, “we”, “us”) for your use of the Slippy website and app (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Slippy.

Our Privacy policy explains how we handle your personal data and forms part of these terms.

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. If you use Slippy on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you may accept these terms for it.

2. What Slippy is

Slippy lets you:

  • search a catalogue of grocery products and see prices shoppers recently paid;
  • upload photos of your receipts, which we read automatically for you to check;
  • publish the prices from your receipts, anonymously, for everyone to see;
  • keep shopping lists and see which store is cheapest for them;
  • watch products and get alerts when their price drops;
  • help keep prices accurate by confirming or flagging them;
  • rate products from 1 to 5 stars.

Slippy is independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for any store or brand shown in the Service. Store and product names and logos belong to their owners and are used only to identify them.

3. Your account

  • Give a valid email address and keep your password secret.
  • One person, one account. Don't share it or create accounts for others.
  • You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us at once at privacy@slippy-save.com if you think someone else has used it.

4. Receipts and prices you share

When you upload a receipt, you confirm that:

  • it is a genuine receipt for a purchase you or your household made;
  • you have not altered it or made it up;
  • you have the right to share it, and it does not include anyone else's personal information that you are not allowed to share.

Receipts are read by automated systems, which can make mistakes. Please check what we read before you confirm it. Once you confirm a receipt, the prices of products we can identify are published anonymously. You can withdraw a price from your own receipt if it turns out to be wrong.

We may limit how many receipts you upload, refuse or remove receipts and prices that look fake, duplicated, unreadable or not from a grocery purchase, and correct product, store or price details to keep the guide accurate.

5. Permission to use your contributions

You keep any rights you have in what you upload. To run Slippy, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process, adapt and display your receipts, the information on them and any photos of items you send us, in order to provide and improve the Service.

For the prices and product information published from your receipts, for item photos we use as a product's picture, and for product ratings once combined with others', which are anonymous and not shown with your identity, this licence is also perpetual, irrevocable and transferable, may be sublicensed, and includes the right to combine them with other data and to use, publish, sell and license them and anything derived from them, including commercially in price reports, analytics and data products. This continues after you close your account. It never covers your personal data, which we handle only as our Privacy policy describes.

You won't receive payment for your contributions. In return, the Service is free to use.

6. Acceptable use

Do not:

  • upload fake, edited, duplicated or someone else's receipts;
  • try to distort prices, for example by flagging or confirming prices in bulk, using several accounts, or coordinating votes to favour or harm a store or brand;
  • copy, scrape, crawl or extract data from Slippy by automated means, or build a competing database from it, without our written permission;
  • rate products you have no honest opinion of, rate for payment or reward, rate a competitor's or your own employer's products, or use several accounts to rate;
  • try to find out who contributed a price, or re-identify anyone from Slippy data;
  • access accounts or data that aren't yours, probe or break our security, or overload or disrupt the Service;
  • upload malware or anything unlawful, offensive or that infringes others' rights;
  • use Slippy in any way that breaks the law.

Notes you add to a price check must be relevant and respectful. Found a security problem? Please tell us privately at privacy@slippy-save.com.

7. Prices are a guide, not a promise

Every price on Slippy is a historical observation: what a shopper paid at a particular store on the date shown, as read from their receipt. Prices may since have changed, may have included promotions or loyalty discounts, may differ between branches, and may occasionally be wrong. Comparisons such as “cheapest for your list” and price-drop alerts are based only on the prices we have.

Stores are not bound by prices shown on Slippy. Always check the price in store before you buy. Slippy is not financial advice.

8. Community price checks and ratings

You can confirm or flag prices. Votes are anonymous to other users and limited per day. Prices that look unusual or that several people flag may be left out of totals and alerts until we review them. If a price from your receipt is disputed, we will let you know so you can confirm or withdraw it. Our decision on whether to keep, correct or remove a price is final, and we may disregard votes we believe are not genuine.

You can rate products from 1 to 5 stars and change or remove your rating at any time. Only combined ratings are shown, and an average appears once a product has at least three ratings. Ratings from shoppers with the product on one of their own receipts are counted as verified buyers. We may remove ratings we believe are not genuine.

9. Alerts and notifications

Price-drop alerts are optional, and you turn them on for each device. We try to send them promptly, but delivery depends on your device, browser and network and is not guaranteed. Some devices, such as iPhones and iPads, only support notifications when Slippy is installed to the home screen.

10. Our content and data

The Service, including its software, design, product catalogue and the compiled price database, belongs to Slippy Inc or its licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for your own, non-commercial shopping. Any other use, including commercial use of Slippy data, needs a separate agreement with us.

Some product photos and details come from retailers' and brands' websites and are credited where shown. If you believe something on Slippy infringes your rights, contact us and we will look into it promptly.

11. Third-party services

Slippy relies on other services, for example OpenStreetMap for maps and AI providers for reading receipts. Their availability is outside our control, and links to other websites are provided for convenience only. We are not responsible for their content or practices.

12. Fees

Slippy is free for shoppers. If we ever introduce paid features, we will tell you the price in advance, and you will only pay if you choose to use them.

13. Suspension and closing your account

You can stop using Slippy at any time and ask us to delete your account at privacy@slippy-save.com. We delete your personal data as described in our Privacy policy; anonymous prices already published stay in the guide.

We may suspend or close your account, or remove your contributions, if you break these terms, if we must for legal reasons, or to protect other users or the Service. Where reasonable, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. We may also stop offering the Service, with reasonable notice where we can.

Sections 5 (for published prices), 7, 10 and 14 to 19 continue to apply after your account is closed.

14. Disclaimers

We work hard to make Slippy useful and accurate, but the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we do not guarantee that prices, product details, store information, comparisons or alerts are complete, current or error-free, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or free of faults. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.

15. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Slippy is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of savings, profit or data, arising from your use of the Service or from relying on prices shown in it, including paying a different price in store. Because the Service is free, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to N$1,000.

This does not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.

16. Indemnity

If you break these terms, for example by uploading a receipt you had no right to share or a fake receipt, and someone makes a claim against us as a result, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and losses from that claim, to the extent the law allows.

17. Changes to the Service and these terms

Slippy is growing, and features may change. We may update these terms; the “last updated” date shows the current version. For material changes we will give you notice in the app or by email at least 14 days before they apply, unless a change is needed sooner for legal or security reasons. If you keep using Slippy after a change applies, the new terms apply to you; if you don't agree, you can close your account.

18. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Namibia. If you have a problem, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. Any dispute that we can't resolve together will be decided by the competent courts in Windhoek, Namibia, unless the law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.

19. General

  • These terms and our Privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
  • If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
  • If we don't enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another company, for example if Slippy is sold, and your rights will not be reduced as a result. You may not transfer yours without our consent.
